Winter flooding

The drain and dyke drain are part of a water course that drains water from the fields. If the drain or dyke are blocked the water backtracks and floods Newtown Road. Heavy rainfall during storms will see the dyke fill quickly and cause flooding in the bungalows in Newtown Road. It is not unusual for residents to stand on top of the metal drain clearing the debris during storms that is carried down by the water. The dyke at this moment is now seriously overgrown, I have lived here 20 years and it has never been so bad. In its current state it will not be effective in clearing the water in the coming winter. Anglian water have confirmed that it is not their responsibility Can you confirm who is responsible please. Over the years as a community we have tried to keep it clear but the growth this year is too much for us to clear. Most of us are now pensioners so are not agile enough to be climbing in and out if dykes. This needs to be addressed while it is still dry Many thanks Cecilia Aldwin
