Incorrect speed limit newly painted on road

Turning into Wood Street from Oxford Street, Wellingborough today (10/7), it was comical to see that all the street signage (a little worse for wear) still specifies 20mph, but to then be greeted by a fresh, new, great big white circled ‘30’ on the road! To my knowledge, for the past 30yrs, there has been a 20 (twenty) mph speed limit in place on Wood Street / Abbots Way / Monks Way ! This is due partly to the four schools in the vicinity, hair-pin bend and pedestrian footfall into the town (a major cycle and pedestrian path crossing). Speed humps also in this location. I haven’t been in the direction of the Monks Way / Croyland road junction today, but guess this could be the same. My own view is that Abbots Way should be disconnected from Monks Way (no through road) as the speeding traffic is horrendous and getting worse. Thank you
