Deteriorating footway surface and broken path edge

The edge of the footway has broken away over a long section, leaving uneven levels between the path and adjacent gravel surface. There are extensive cracks, crumbling edges, loose material and areas where the path surface is breaking up. The footway has become uneven and distorted, with areas that slope, dip and hump along its length. The changing levels and irregular surface create a trip hazard and make the route difficult to navigate safely.
