Double yellows need extending around the corner

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 13:25, Friday 29 May 2026

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 9526940.

The double yellows in this area do not extend around the corner enough. people park right on the junction which prevents large vehicles such as bin lorries , fire engine etc cannot turn into Montague from this end because of cars parking right on the junction. bin lorry has to come from Wellingborough road end and reverse down the street to empty bins. please can this be looked at.

  • Investigation: Completed (No Action Necessary) - Thank you for your enquiry. The junction protection markings on Montague Street are considered appropriate for the road layout at this location. As Montague Street is a one-way road with access from Wellingborough Road only, the markings at the opposite end help maintain sufficient clearance for larger vehicles to manoeuvre safely. All vehicles should be travelling in the prescribed direction of travel. We work closely with our Waste Services team, who have not raised any concerns regarding access on this road and continue to carry out collections without difficulty.

Based on the current layout, traffic conditions and operational requirements, the existing double yellow lines are considered appropriate and proportionate for this section of highway. As such, there are no plans to amend the restrictions at this time.
