Reported via mobile in the Overgrown Private Vegetation category anonymously at 14:19, Friday 23 January 2026
Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8752462.
The public footpath through has been destroyed by horse riders gaining access to the footpath. There are overgrown brambles and hedge making it harder to walk through and the ground is no longer safe or firm under foot, this is by a river ditch and makes it dangerous for all walkers to use . Please cut back hedges either side to allow it to dry out , place no horses sign as it's not a bridle way

Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - We can confirm that the access gap is a suitable width for this footpath, we have completed some minor vegetation clearance to ensure this. This footpath is a natural surface path which is wet and muddy due to the time of year, and this will vary throughout the year, it is suitable for access at this time. In relation to the use by horses, unfortunately we are unable to take action regarding improper or illegal use of footpaths. If you feel this forms anti social behaviour or illegal use then please report this to Northamptonshire Police on 101. This is private land and we will be unable and do not install any signage referring to the use of horses on footpaths. The designation of this route as a footpath is marked from the fingerposts at the highway.
