High level of tarmac / condition in alleyway adjacent to 12 Prince Street, Earls Barton,NN6 0LL

Reported via desktop in the Slabs - Uneven / Damaged / Cracked category anonymously at 10:39, Mon 8 December 2025

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8515999.

High level of tarmac / condition in alleyway adjacent to 12 Prince Street, Earls Barton,NN6 0LL I’m writing regarding the alleyway (right of way) that runs alongside my property, an end-of-terrace house 12 Prince Street, Earls Barton, Northampton.

Over the years it looks like the alley surface has been raised with additional tarmac layers, and the current ground level is now above one of my airbricks. This has caused ventilation issues and damp inside the house at that location, damage to the brickwork is visible from the alley way.

The tarmac in this area was cracked and loose, with mostly mud and debris underneath. I temporarily exposed the airbrick with a small trench to allow airflow, but the alley is used by people on a daily basis, so I’m concerned it could create a trip hazard if left as is.

As this is council-owned land, I thought it best to report it so that it can be inspected. I’m also concerned that the ground level further along the wall may be higher than it should be, as we have noticed damp in other areas of the house as well. Could the council inspect this section of the alleyway and advise on a suitable long-term solution, such as lowering the ground locally or installing drainage? I have photos of the blocked airbrick and the trench that I can provide if helpful.
