Parking on drop kerb , path and up to the corner
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 18:56, Tuesday 2 December 2025
Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8493641.
I have noticed these cars parked here for the last two months parked in the drop kerb which is illegal as it obstructs access for pedestrians , wheelchair users and access to properties . They are always parked on the path again lifting access to getting past . I also worry about the danger of how close they park up to the junction as it’s less than the law states of 10 meters . I have witnessed several near misses when out for walks as pedestrians and car users views are obscured . Not to mention the difficulty I have witnessed of the poor people that end that struggle to maneuver blind of their driveways in their cars due to the row of cars . Surely this needs addressing a fine is defiantly not questionable and a firm chat it is a busy street and at times these cars have stopped the flow of traffic as buses and vans have struggled to get past !

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found) - It is appreciated how frustrating and upsetting parking issues can be, particularly when they affect access to private driveways or lead to ongoing disputes with other vehicle owners. Double yellow lines (DYLs) can be considered where there is a clear and demonstrable road safety concern. Unfortunately, they cannot be implemented solely to protect private driveways or resolve parking disputes between neighbours. In residential areas, DYLs are typically used at junctions where visibility or access is compromised, on narrow roads where parked cars obstruct the free flow of traffic, or where access for emergency and service vehicles must be maintained. There is a formal, multi-stage consultation process for any proposed DYLs. During the public consultation phase, it is not uncommon for residential proposals to attract multiple objections—particularly in areas where parking is already limited and will cause the displacement of vehicles to other nearby roads/streets all of which must be considered prior to any request for change. As an alternative to a formal process, you may wish to apply for a white I bar access marking across driveway accesses. While this is not enforceable and does not guarantee a change in driver behaviour, it serves as a visual reminder not to obstruct access to your driveway. Further details on both processes, including how to apply for these, are available on the North Northamptonshire Council website; https://www.northnorthants.gov.uk/ parking. Where vehicles are in contravention to a restriction then these can be reported to the Traffic Enforcement Team at North Northamptonshire Council and any further queries please contact them directly on 0300 126 3000 or alternatively the local police on their non emergency number 101 if vehicles are parked causing a hazard or obstruction.
