Investigation: Completed (No Action Necessary) - Thank you for your enquiry regarding any damage to the grass verges that may be caused by vehicles driving or parking on them. Unfortunately, this is a common seasonal problem where the verges soften due to wet or inclement weather and become prone to rutting. This type of concern is becoming more common and is in part due to an increase in car ownership, especially in built up areas. A consequence of this is that roads in some locations are not designed to cater for the parking requirements with residents potentially having multiple vehicles and visitors. North Northamptonshire Council do not have any enforcement powers in terms of improper driving and/or parking without restrictions in place and North Northamptonshire Civil Enforcement Officers are responsible for, though are not limited to; double and single yellow lines, blue badge bays, limited waiting bays, taxi ranks, loading bays, parking in bus lanes and stops, zig-zag markings at schools (if restrictions apply) and pedestrian crossings, parking across dropped kerbs where there’s a crossing point (with or without tactile paving) and double parking (parking too far from the kerb). However, should there be issues regarding obstruction, please report this type of matter to Northamptonshire Police by calling 101 or visiting their website www.northants.police.uk
