Overgrown hedges restricting pathway

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown Private Vegetation category anonymously at 14:07, Saturday 3 May 2025

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 7518704.

This overgrowth of hedges has been reported by myself since February 2025. The understanding is that this area of hedges is the responsibility of the home owners at 73 and 75 Oakpits Way. These properties are in a private cul de sac. The hedges abut the pathway of Barrington Road.

The home owners have done nothing about the over growth.

When will action be taken?

  • Hedges are still overgrown and residents at 73 & 75 Oakpits Way have still not cut the hedges back. They have ignored and communication from the local authority.

I feel the local authority should cut the hedges back and send these residents an invoice/ add to their council tax demand notice.

  • The hedges that abut Barrington Road and the private cul de sac of oakpits way have still not been cut back to allow for more than one person to walk along this stretch of road. Oncoming pedestrians walk either on the grass verge or the road when passing in the opposite direction.

Mobility scooters and those with walking aids would find it difficult to walk along this path if a person was coming in the opposite direction. As would people with prams or pushchairs.

The hedges have been identified as the responsibility of the home owners. Namely 73 and 75 Oakpits way.

It is now the 10th of June and the hedges have still not been cut back sufficiently to reveal the full width of the pavement.

This request was made several months ago and the residents of these two properties have completely ignored any correspondence from this department. Is there going to be a penalty applied to these households for ignoring the request from this authority to cut back their hedges?
