Restrictive Road Signage into George Street, Corby

Reported via mobile in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 23:28, Saturday 11 January 2025

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6967023.

Over the Xmas period, specifically the BANK HOLIDAY DAYS, many car drivers, on the USUAL understanding of BANK HOLIDAYS being the same as Sunday's, have received 'fines' through the post from NNC? for going through George Street, Corby, where MOST if not ALL believed there were no restrictions on Sundays, because in MOST scenarios, nationwide, THIS DOES INCLUDE BANK HOLIDAYS. In all parts of the country, bank holidays, are regarded as Sunday workings, be it company working, shop working, office working, North Northamptonshire Council working and bank holiday car parking, in most towns, is also regarded as Sunday workings. Eg. Adjacent to George Street is Parkland Gateway car park, where Sundays AND BANK HOLIDAYS are free parking. George Street and the pedestrian crossing by McDonald's should ALSO have the same rules as most other towns and villages. A bank holiday has ALWAYS had the understanding of 'Same as a Sunday'., no matter the situation. The road signage on the entrance to George Street needs to be changed to also allow car drivers, on BANK HOLIDAYS , through access. Not showing and disallowing this, in my opinion, is very underhanded AND a sneaky money spinner , as foot traffic on BANK HOLIDAYS on George Street , as is on Sundays, is at most, the equivalent. Probably less. A blanket restriction on Monday to Saturdays, irrespective of any Bank Holidays, is at best, poor planning, at worse, a cash cow for NNC Looking forward to what is probably going to be a non sensical reply. Regards
