No signage discs

Reported via desktop in the Sign/Waymarking - Damaged/Missing category anonymously at 13:43, Thu 19 September 2024

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6490336.

Previously reported as part of 6306630. Stile deemed to be satisfactory. I rewalked the path from both directions. The problem navigating this path is that the line of the right of way indicates crossing two fences forming a triangle, An old stile is visible next to a broken part of the fence, both fences have wire making crossing difficult. This was what was in mind in initial referral. You felt stile in situ was acceptable , but it seems that is the stile 30 metres south of the right of ways indicated line (on line O/S map and Definitive map refer). This stile in the south corner of the field can be used to circumnavigate the wire obstruction, but it is not immediately obvious that is now the route we are expected to take. Could some signage be placed on the newer stile to make it obvious which way we should now walk to avoid people following the old line and stumbling over the wires.

  • Two photos , first shows obstructed stile with wire, this is on the true line of the path. Second stile I assume intent is that we now use, could do with arrow discs on either side to make it clear where its wanted us to go.
