Investigating
FixMyStreet ref: 6080182 - No action taken
Reported via mobile in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 06:30, Mon 29 July 2024
Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6286680.
Reported 8th June, 18th June you said it would be resolved in 28 days. 29th July still not resolved. Still overgrown, still obstructing the road, still far too big, still hitting vehicles, still too close to cables for power and internet and houses. PLEASE ACTION.
Please don’t close these reports until they’re resolved!
“Massively overgrown trees leaning onto to road, low branches being hit by trucks, causing detritus and sticky saps to fall on parked residents cars, extreme movement in recent high winds. Seeds and leaves blocking gutters on houses opposite, thousand of tree seeds falling each year and starting to grow in spring, if left in unmanaged will cause all kinds of issues. The multitude of trees opposite houses are self seeded (sycamore?), unmanaged and completely inappropriate sized for the location. Far too big. In the storms snd high winds of last summer and this spring they caused great concern, if they fall they will hit houses, power/internet cables and cars. They appear to be increasing in height by at least 1m a year unchecked
National grid pruned a bit away from the power lines (May/June2023) but refused to complete full reductions due to ‘cost’.
All road side trees need significant crown reduction, appropriate annual management or full removal.“

To whom it may concern, I have rang and emailed a number of times trying to establish if the land in question belongs to the Landowner in question. All we have received is that it belong to your property, however there is a fence and a gap between this and the stonewall. I have stated if the land belong to us (Brighurst Cottage) we will action straight away. Till such time that the council confirm the land up to the wall belongs to the property in question, we will not carry out any works.

It is now 19 October originally reported in JUNE!
STILL NO ACTION TAKEN to cut the overhanging trees/shrubs back properly, or reduce very overgrown height, neither by the two landowners nor the council.
E.g The willow now reaches across both sides of the road. The other trees are hit routinely by vehicles, they distribute detritus on the road, they block the light, they are dangerous in high winds.
Why is it taking so long?
The land ownership (and therefore vegetation responsibility) has presumably been established in the last 4 months?
PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW

This is the 3rd time you have done this!
What ACTION are you going to take NOW?
What consequences if yet again no action is taken? Give them another 28 days, ad infinitum?
Perhaps organise the work to be done by the council tree workers and send those failing to act, the invoice!
