Hedges overgrowing onto the road causing a safety issue

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 22:39, Thursday 13 June 2024

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6105926.

You say you have investigated these overgrown hedges onto the road and there is not a problem. Your investigation is flawed and you do not understand the full issue. These roads are very narrow and hardly wide enough for two cars to pass, these roads are now heavily used by large lorries because of the businesses working in Harrington that are served by these large lorries. I was travelling up from Rothwell towards Harrington and met a large lorry coming in the opposite direction I had to run into that hedge area which badly scratched my car and nearly had a head on collision with that large lorry. These hedges need to be cut back to allow large HGVs and cars to pass safely before there is a serious road traffic accident where someone could be killed. Can you now relook at this situation and get these hedges cut back ASAP.

If you look back on last year's notes you will see that you had instructed the owner of the hedges to get them cut and they never did get them cut.
