Failed Road Surface

Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 21:25, Thu 16 May 2024

Sent to North Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 5984251.

The surface of the road as you turn into Bell End from the B569 has completely failed - it is rough, uneven and would be a danger if any sudden braking was required. Likely caused as a result of the HGV's turning. Only appears to be affecting one side of the road.

  • This fault has been raised several times with Ben Wright at Keir who has hopefully got things in hand for it? It was a section that was done part funded by the Parish Council in 2018 and so we are not too happy that it has failed after only a few years. You repaired a sunken area in nearby Cobbs Lane (ref:5585623) only last week exactly the same as this fault. We hoped that this could be done at the same time as only 200 yards away, however probably too much like common sense? It will certainly not last for a possible 26 weeks we feel.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Rejected

Posted by North Northamptonshire Council at 10:17, Thu 6 June 2024

  • I am not sure why an update is posted on 3/6/24 to say that the work will be competed by 28/6/24 and then 3 days later a Defect Repair Rejected comes up? This section of road is sinking and in urgent need of attention as it has for the last year or so, can we please have some action to remedy the situation before an accident occurs.

  • The Parish Council would be grateful if you could give us a firm date for the repair of this sinking roadway. It is on a very busy through route for school buses and many HGV's and so is only likely to get worse. We have many residents asking us what is happening and when any repair is to be made, but like them we are totally in the dark?

  • Investigation: Completed (Work Completed), Defect Repair: Rejected - We can confirm that this defect has been fully repaired.
